BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) with iTunes 8 and Windows Vista

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Just updated my iPhone 3G with the new 2.1 firmware and installed iTunes 8 on my Sony VAIO laptop, I have this Sony VAIO for 6 months and this is the first time I see a Blue Screen of Death just after the first iPhone sync with this new firmware.

The truth is that there is a compatibility problem with the new iTunes version, but Apple has released a revised version that solves the problem, you can download it here.

First, disconnect your iPod/iPhone from your PC, then uninstall iTunes 8 and Apple Mobile Device and then, reinstall the recently downloaded iTunes from Apple.

It seems that the problem is caused by a new driver that Apple has replaced with the old iTunes 7.7 version.

BBC: The Big Bang Machine, a great documental about the LHC

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

If you have an hour take it to watch this fantastic BBC documental, released some days ago and called “The Big Machine”, if you are in the UK you can watch it here.

Here’s an introduction about it:

Professor Brian Cox visits Geneva to take a look around Cern’s Large Hadron Collider before this vast, 27km long machine is sealed-off and the experiment to create the simulation of a black hole begins.

When it’s up and running, it will be capable of creating the conditions that existed just a billionth of a second after the Big Bang. Brian joins the scientists who hope that the LHC will change our understanding of the early universe and solve some of its mysteries.

New mobile user interface by TAT [VIDEO]

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

UPDATE #1: Added another video

Apple, get ready for this! TAT - The Astonishing Tribe is a company specialized in high performance user experiences on mobile devices, I’ve found a video where we can see a prototype of her new impressive mobile interface that maybe we will se in the next mobile devices.

Well maybe the buttons and widgets are too small to touch, that would be cool in a keyboard device but a lot better in a screen of the size of an iPhone.

I would like to see more OS’s and interfaces like this in a near future, with even more “fx transitions” and adding a third dimension to the screen.
